Franklin Tennessee City leaders took further steps in their goal to become one of the country’s Top 25 Green Cities and a regional leader in sustainability. A Sustainability Task Force held its first meeting on Monday, November 24 at 5:00pm.  This group is responsible for developing a Sustainability Plan based on public input obtained during a workshop held in September.

The Task Force separated into nine subcommittees, each to focus on a specific category targeted for improvement.  Categories include energy usage, waste reduction, environmental health, urban design, transportation, and others.  Each group will identify specific goals for improvement and develop strategies for achieving these goals, perform a business-case analysis to assess costs, and set an implementation schedule.

The next meeting of the Task Force is Monday, January 26, 2009 at 5:00pm at Franklin City Hall.  Click on the links below for additional information.
